Wedding Video Created with Artistry and Dignity

I have found that most couples who inquire about wedding videography have already have seen several examples of wedding videos. These couples have a clear understanding of what they expect in the quality and esthetics of their video. Unfortunately, most people have encountered the stereotypical wedding video and want something more tasteful and dignified. Hiring the right person does make the difference. When the wedding day comes to a close, your wedding video and photo album are all that you will have left to remember the day. You simply have to hire the best!

Choosing a Professional Videographer for your
Wedding Video, Dance Recital, or Special Event

Is your videographer a full time professional?

Too often, this is not the case. Only a small percentage of the videographers who specialize in events come from a professional photographic background. For most people looking for a videographer, this is completely overlooked. A professional videographer will be there to take your call. Many brides express the frustration of calling someone several times before receiving a return phone call. Your call should be returned promptly. Be careful of companies offering package deals and cut rate video. They often hire part time camera operators such as students to shoot weddings and/or spend far less than the many hours required to edit and produce a quality video. I have received calls from brides frantically looking for a videographer for their wedding because the company they hired had a videographer quit Choose a videographer dedicated to providing outstanding service.

Spectacular audio quality

Audio quality is the most overlooked and often the most noticeable shortcoming in wedding video. Your videographer should be able to provide at least four wireless microphones for any event. Concentrate on listening for more than the vows. Demand to hear examples of readers, instrumentalists, vocalists, and string quartets. Your wedding will be a beautiful experience. Don’t allow on-camera microphones to record your event. Make sure your videographer understands the principles of acquiring good audio for your video.

Excellent camera skills

Your videographer should display excellent camera skills and composition. This is the primary key to having a video that is dynamic, exciting, and realistic. Don’t be fooled by dazzling special effects and computer animation. Many videographers tout these capabilities in their advertising, but effects, no matter how impressive, cannot correct poor camera footage.

"Broadcast Quality" equipment

Many of the digital and industrial camcorders used by part time videographers have a cheaper lens and very limited audio capabilities. Broadcast quality cameras are designed for one purpose: to acquire unsurpassed video and audio.

Multiple camera coverage and professional A/B roll editing…This is a must!

Your video should be covered from several different vantage points or views. A professional videographer will provide A/B roll editing to dissolve or fade from one camera to the next for a natural feel. Your video will probably include opening titles, an artistic combination of transitions and special effects from one scene to another wherever appropriate, and in many cases an elegant recap of the day.

Unless you choose wisely, your wedding video could be a haunting disappointment.

Remember, your videographer will be with you throughout your wedding day! Choose someone you feel confident will interact well with both you and your guests. You will find that your photo album and video will compliment each other. You should arrange to reserve your photographer and videographer as soon as you secure your reception site. Some dates can be in reservation over a year in advance. Seek out the highest quality and hire the best photographer and videographer that you can afford.

Frequently Asked Questions about
Wedding Video
and Special Event Video

What sets me apart from most of the other videographers?

I am not your stereotypical wedding videographer! I have a diverse professional background in: photography, television production, music (as a performer, conductor, and composer) and audio recording and production. Most wedding videographers come from some background other than photography and arts. They literally become videographers! Unfortunately, a lot of couples end up with videos like this because they just haven’t seen quality work. Most wedding videos are shot by a part time camera person on the weekends. Couples don’t talk to this person, they talk to the person who owns the company, answers the phone, and sells them their video! When you talk to me, you’ll be speaking to the person responsible for recording and creating your wedding video. Not everyone is gifted with the same talent and abilities. Why risk having your video shot by someone who only knows how to set up and point a camera!

It’s everything we’ve dreamed of: a romantic candlelight wedding. But will it be too dark for a video? (Will you have to use bright lights?)

I have had never had to use lights during a ceremony... Until Amanda and Brett's wedding at Antrim 1844.. I can show you many examples of some very popular locations under candlelight situations. Just like many other couples, you’ll be amazed!

It’s a once-in-a-lifetime event. Our closest friends and relatives will all be there. Will they be on the tape, or will there just be shots of the wedding party?

A wedding is more than a documentary; it’s a complete story. I take the time to listen to you as we plan your video. During the interview process, I’ll learn what’s important to you. Every part of your wedding day will be recorded in a natural candid style. Typically, the focus of the reception shifts from the bride and groom to everyone at your wedding.

You’ve seen a wedding video which began with photographs and some music.

I have the capability to include anything you’d like. The Photo Montage is one of the most popular options in a wedding video. Don’t forget to select lots of recent photos of the two of you as a couple. After all, the video is about you! You may also want to think about creating a music video of your photos to be featured at your wedding reception for your guests to enjoy!

Our wedding will be unique! We aren’t doing anything in the traditional way. What if the videographer isn’t ready and misses something?

In my experience, I have found that every wedding is unique. This is one of the major advantages of selecting a videographer who doesn’t hire part-time people to shoot weddings each weekend. I spend a great deal of time conferring with the bride and groom and the officiant so that there are no surprises on the wedding day.

Your Wedding Video Has My Commitment to
Service and Satisfaction...Guaranteed

If you only knew.......

Nothing captures excitement and emotion like an outstanding video. Most couples today rely on video to realistically share their wedding memories with family and friends. A quality video is priceless for its keepsake value. Nothing else gives you the ability to relive such a memorable occasion or compares in entertainment value like a spectacular video.

Unless you choose wisely, your wedding video could be a haunting disappointment!

This is an extremely important decision and an investment in part of your life that you will want to share and possibly hand down to your children. There are no retakes in a live event. It must be done right the first time.

Hiring the right person makes the difference!

I am committed to providing you with only the best.

Quality work: Compare the value and the quality of the video, not the price. You will find that I offer superior quality work at reasonable prices.

Professional equipment: using the latest high resolution professional Broadcast Quality 3-chip cameras.

Excellent camera skills! This is often completely overlooked. Don’t be fooled by special effects and ‘cutsie’ wedding fluff. Your video should be dynamic, exciting, and realistic.

Personal service and options: I take time to go over all aspects of the wedding with the bridal couple. You may want to customize your video with a photo montage (the couple’s childhood photos, music, etc.) at the beginning, or photos from your honeymoon at the end. I work closely with each couple to make their wedding video uniquely their own.

Unobtrusive videotaping: The focus should be on the bridal couple, not the videographer. I use a documentary style, capturing the events as they occur. A good videographer will stay in the background and never give directions, so that your wedding day can be portrayed in a natural, candid style.

Multiple camera coverage: This is a must! I use three cameras from various angles plus a back-up camera.

Professional A/B roll editing (dissolving or fading from one camera to the next).

Spectacular audio quality: I use 4 professional wireless microphones for unsurpassed clarity.

Low light capability: My cameras can handle even extremely low light situations with ease.

No sub-contractors or package deals: Be careful of companies offering package deals and cut rate video. They often hire hourly camera operators and/or spend far less than the many hours required to edit and produce a quality video. They have to cut corners somewhere in order to give you a low price, and often this is reflected in the level of attention and quality devoted to your video. Plus, there’s no guarantee the person (or employee) you’re expecting to record your event will even be working there when your wedding date comes around. I personally record, edit, and produce your video.

"Charlie and I have viewed the video you made of our wedding and we are very pleased with it. We are both delighted that we made the decision to have you make a documentary of our wedding. I enjoy playing with my video camera but there is no comparison between the end result of what I do and the end result of what you do!"

"We wanted to formally share with you how pleased we are with the wedding video you did for us. We shopped around a great deal for a videographer. Though we were not at all sure what we were looking for, each videographer we interviewed seemed impersonal, amateur, and unprofessional.Wayne, you stood out from all the rest. You were friendly, personable, and professional on the telephone and in person. You showed us beautiful examples of your work. We got the impression from the start that you cared about our wedding experience and that you put your heart into everything that you did.Indeed, every point of contact we had with you, telephone conversations and meetings before and after the wedding were consistent with our first impression.

You were respectful and worked exceptionally well with the priest and all church staff. You were pleasant and friendly with all of our guests both at the church and at the reception. You worked very well with the professional photographer. All of the guests raved about how you got down on the dance floor with everyone!

In addition to our over-all positive experience in working with you, we are exceptionally pleased with the finished product, the video itself. Even though we’ve seen it many times already, we still watch it every couple of months because it captures so well the fun and the magic of our wedding day.

We also owe you a special thanks for the extra "Love Story" video that you did for us. We love it! We watch it over and over and laugh and giggle with delight. We will treasure it forever. We are so pleased with your work that we hope to refer as much business as possible in the future. Thank you so much for all you did for us. The quality and care that you put into your work is what sets you apart from the rest. Your artistic touch is what makes our wedding video so special and something that we will enjoy for the rest of our lives."

Sincerely,
Jennifer and Rey Martinez

"We are writing to tell you what a wonderful job you did taping Christy's wedding. The high quality of your work is apparent in every aspect of the videos. You captured the beauty of the setting and the ceremony from many different angles, utilizing the reflecting pool to great advantage. Your technical expertise in recording the dancing at the reception was extraordinary. The use of multiple camera angles and your movement around the floor to capture the dancers from varying perspectives, produced a stunning record of the energy and activity. You produced an excellent image quality and the sound was superb. The reception coverage was priceless. We had no idea how much fun those kids had! We had asked for only a few special effects and those that you did were perfect and exactly what we wanted.

There are so many things about the wedding that we had already forgotten or never saw at all that the video captured. We can't imagine not having done this. We will highly recommend your work to our friends. Good luck and thanks again for your professional attitude, charm, enthusiasm and good humor. They were much appreciated on such an important day for our family."

Sincerely yours,
Susan and Ted Colburn

Dear Wayne,
"Thank you very much for doing an outstanding job on our photo montage. We absolutely love it and everyone commented on how well it turned out. We love your web page and have been highly recommending you to all of our friends & family. Thanks again for all of your energy & effort to make our wedding day so memorable."

Fondly,
Tammy & Chuck

Dear Wayne,
"We had been anxiously awaiting our daughter's wedding video, and when it came last week, it more than met our expectations. The video captured the feeling of the wedding in the way that we experienced it at the time, its' overall effect being one of understatement and elegance. Also visible, through glances and attention to small details, is the obvious love between the bride and groom. The sequence of the day's events flow very naturally, and all of the transition techniques in the video seem appropriate for what is transpiring. It is clear that producing a film with this kind of result involves both art and science.

It would be our pleasure to recommend your work to any prospective clients."

Sincerely,
Yancy and Jane Phillips
